md5sum question??? SOLVED!!

Post by mefl » Mon Mar 31, 2008 11:38 pm

I've had several attempts at trying to load mint 4.0 on my laptop, not much success. a few people have written, check md5sum for a match. question, match with what??
is it the md5sum on the mint web page against what was burnt onto the cd? if so, they don't match with me.
mint site - 572a56ec165ef6ad8f785cc7f13a5a14
on my cd it reads d41d8cd98f00b204e9800998ecf8427e ./md5sum.txt

am i missing something???

You compare the md5sum calculated for the entire ISO with 572a56ec165ef6ad8f785cc7f13a5a14 for the main edition
In the ISO - if I remember correctly - you also find the md5sums for each individual file including md5sum.txt and I guess that's what you've found
So set your md5sum checker to check the ISO and compare to 572a56ec165ef6ad8f785cc7f13a5a14
Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
