Could not read from resource problem (DVD)

Post by Bob Unitt » Sat Feb 08, 2014 4:48 pm

Mint 15 32-bit. Same problem on both a desktop PC and a laptop. I'm trying to play a video DVD (Game of Thrones, as it happens). I can play other video DVD's on these PCs and I can play this DVD on my TV. When I try to play this video on my PC or laptop it gives me "An error occurred > Could not read from resource". I assume I'm missing some kind of decoder, how do I fix it please ?

p.s. it does the same on old ubuntu 10.04 machine too.

Additional info - it will play using VLC on an 11-year old laptop running Mint 14, but if I try that on a 3-year old laptop using Mint 15 it just sits there, doing nothing.
