Problems with libre Base

Post by Paddy78 »

Hi, I have downloaded base from the software manager but I keep getting this error message after it has created a new database

The connection to the data source "New Database1" could not be established.

SQL Status: HY000

The connection to the external data source could not be established. No SDBC driver was found for the URL 'sdbc:embedded:hsqldb'.

A connection for the following URL was requested "sdbc:embedded:hsqldb"

Does anyone know why it is doing this?

Typically this error indicates a configuration issue. I just found my Mint 17 deployment had this problem; my solution is in two parts

1) Ensure Java is enabled - go to menu Tools : Options : LibreOffice : Advanced ; ensure a JVM is selected (if necessary, install OpenJDK JRE)

2) Install the package libreoffice-sdbc-hsqldb from the package manager or via apt-get

Restart LibreOffice and you should be good to go.

I am not the OP, but step 2 worked for me. I had already verified java, for me at least, java missing generates another error.
Just me, or was Base missing? I had to install it like the OP.
Message to MINT: Please include the complete Libre Office suite. Some of us use a database and I think this error would have been prevented as the package libreoffice-sdbc-hsqldb would have been included by default.
