[Solved] Okular Default Paper Size--need LETTER as default

Post by Bladeforger » Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:44 pm

As a long-time user of Linux Mint, I thought I had everything figured out--more or less...

However, the paper-size when printing from Okular is driving me crazy. It defaults to A4 as the size. I can change it to letter each time I print, but the next time I go to print from Okular, the default is back to A4. How annoying!!

I've been using Adobe for just this very reason, but it isn't always convenient to use Adobe Reader. I'd prefer to use Okular--and do so when I just need to VIEW a pdf.

Is it possible that the default is settable somewhere in Mint itself? Or is Okular just written to default to the metric system ALWAYS without any consideration that some of us using Linux might, possibly, actually be in the United States, which uses letter-size paper.

(I don't need to use resize, these are pdfs that are ALREADY formatted in letter-size.)

If anyone knows an answer, please help.

Thanks!!!

You can set a default papersize for the system
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/luc ... fig.8.html
https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu ... -correctly
  • That's really a bug/suggestion report, highlights the issue for printing
--but useful for the info provided..
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s ... stion/6846
--that may also help clarify the printer/apps process

Aha! Solved!!

After File --> Print, click Properties on the right side of the printer selection.

Next, click on the Advanced tab. Change the page size to letter. The change sticks.

Changing Page Region to letter does NOT stick, but it doesn't matter... or at least hasn't seemed to matter to me yet.

Hope this helps someone.
