I've been running Debian 7x Wheezy on my main machine for a year and a half and loving it. So I thought why not plop the latest version on the second box, a rather "experienced" HP XW8400 that I'd finally got settled down and running Windows smoothly. Well, I sure didn't love Jessie. I wasted a whole day trying to deal with the cranky beyotch. Then I came to my senses and downloaded Mint 17.2 “Rafaela” MATE RC.
I couldn't believe how fast it installed. Everything worked, no problem installing the software I needed, no unpleasant surprises, no interminable searches for tools that should have been at my fingertips. I was home again, in the best dual-boot system I've ever had.
Now I'm seriously considering converting two other computers. The feeling of betrayal I had, finding Debian 8.1 as miserable as Windows 8.1, left a bad taste. Mint is so soothing

When I have a computer problem, I call myself.
