SOLVED Can't Install Audacious

Postby Todd Sauve » Mon Nov 30, 2015 8:24 pm

Hi all,

After I installed the LinuxMint 17.3 beta Cinammon update to my 17.2 install, Audacious refuses to run. When I try to reinstall it from any source (including the LinuxMint software repository, or the Terminal, or the Synaptic Package manager, or the Software Manager) I keep getting error messages. Synaptic says I have Broken Links, Software Manager says it can't install Audacious any longer, and the Terminal gives me the following long-winded error:

todd@todd-X54C ~ $ sudo apt-get install audacious

I don't have a clue as to how to fix this problem. I have Googled it but none of their solutions have worked for me.

Does anyone have a simple straightforward way of resolving my problems so I can install Audacious 3.71? I have spent several hours trying to get it working but have hit a brick wall. :(

Re: Can't Install Audacious after Upgrade to LinuxMint 17.3

SOLVED

It always works this way! When you ask for help the answer dawns on you for some strange reason!

Anyway, after I deleted 2 duplicate PPAs from my Software Sources the Audacious 3.71 package decided to install. Kind of strange but now I have it all working again.

Why the beta upgrade nuked my Audacious install is a mystery but these things seem to happen for unknown reasons ...

Thanks anyway everyone! :)

Ain't that the Truth?
5 minutes after posting...

Sometimes it needs to get "out".

Glad it worked out for you.

Todd
Glad to see you got audacity working in 17.3.

Could you post the PPA source you are using. I need a newer version, and your PPA seems up to date.

Thanks
Switched to Linux Mint to get away from windows 10 spying.
Until MS states that they will not scan, disclose and save any personal files, folders, on my PC, I will not trust them. I would need 3rd party verification.

I installed it from these instructions here: http://www.webupd8.org/2015/11/audacious-37-released-available-in-ppa.html
