failed to fetch

Postby atheist » Sun Jan 17, 2016 1:31 pm

Hello,

Is this a problem, and if so, how can I fix it?

upon updating my system through synaptic:

Code: Select all

Failed to fetch http://archive.canonical.com/dists/rosa/partner/binary-i386/Packages  404  Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.150 80]
Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

17.3, 32-bit, dell e4300.

thanks!

-Steve

That indicates a broken repository configuration; the Ubuntu repository configured with a Linux Mint distribution name, that won't work  I suggest you open Software Sources from your menu and click at the bottom to reset to default configuration. That should fix it.

If it doesn't, please open a terminal and run this command to gather information about your configured repositories:

Code: Select all

inxi -r

Share the output here.

thanks for the reply; the advice didn't help, though. :(

here's the output you requested:

I suggest you delete the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list. From your output it only has this corrupted line in it:

Code: Select all

deb http://archive.canonical.com/ rosa partner

The correct line for that repository is already in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/official-package-repositories.list:

Code: Select all

deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ trusty partner

To remove this file run this command:

Code: Select all

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/additional-repositories.list
