So, since Clem mentioned a new dark theme for LM 18 that is "based on Arc" I was trying to make the current version of that insanely great theme happen (didn't know that theme existed till Clem mentioned it). However, I hit a wall and could need a helping hand or some pointers...
First of all: LM17.3 Arc Theme (Google Drive)
Download and extract the three directories into ~/.themes (or ~/.local/share/themes).
Make sure gtk2-engines-murrine and gtk2-engines-pixbuf (I also installed the :i386 versions as the Github page doesn't mention which one's needed) are installed, as well as gnome-themes-standard and gnome-themes-standard-data.
Then go to "System Settings" -> "Themes" and set (from top to bottom): Arc-Dark, Mint-X-Grey, Arc-Dark, DMZ-Black, Arc-Dark. Then log-out and back in to make it happen (chances are there will be some glitches for as long as you do not log-out/login).
The problems I have:
- GTK2 based programs like "Synaptic" or "Software Sources" do not show up themed but with some generic theme.
- Some Qt based programs (i.e. Enpass Password Manager and related browser extension) have some glitches with the colors.
Question:
Are the problems resolvable or is this a futile attempt?
I mean ... 98% of the UI theme works, although this theme isn't supposed to work at all on anything "Ubuntu 14.04.x based".
