The fingerprint mentioned in the first posting belongs to a new signing key Google created about two weeks ago. Apparently they've now started using it, without distributing it to their users or even telling them anything about it. You should be able to import it using either:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv-keys 1397BC53640DB551
or:

Code: Select all

wget -qO- https://dl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -

Thanks, fixed it for me too - not sure why it didn't show up until now though.

Had this problem (no public key available for the following key IDs:1397BC53640DB551) I googled it and this post came up.

Applied the code and it worked. :D

Thanks

Can't take the credit here because I used the code that grizzler posted in post #5.
Glad you got it fixed.

Well I used the fixes to take away the nagging request for my key each time I start Google.

But it created a new problem.

Google used to remember the passwords for gmail and other programs if I signed out.

For example if I shut google down and reopened I would show logged in. Same with this forum and all my other sites.

But now once Linux or my Chrome is shut down they all forget me and I have to re-log in to every site.

So I fixed a minor annoyance and traded it for a major annoyance.

Any suggestions. Sigh...
