Re: Change mouse scroll speed
Different mice have different encoders on the scroll wheel. 64 counts, 128 counts( standard ) and 256 count (very fast) try a different encoder or rodent!

Re: Change mouse scroll speed
I have this problem too. I was able to change the scrolling speed using imwheel: http://www.webupd8.org/2015/12/how-to-c ... speed.html But that ruins the side buttons. So that wasn't a useful solution.
Also i couldn't find the way to make autoscrolling (a.k.a middle button scrolling) work except firefox(which has built-in support itself).

Re: Change mouse scroll speed
I am a total newbie to Linux Mint. Mouse scroll speed was the first problem I noticed when I started using LM, and the first I have still failed to solve. There is nothing in the mouse settings that even mentions the mouse wheel.
My mouse wheel does actually work., but it takes 5 or 6 turns to move one line while scrolling. So I usually use the scroll bar or up and down buttons. The scroll bars are so narrow that it is easy to miss them with the pointer.
Something as simple and ubiquitous as mouse use should not be that hard for the developers to fix, uh, so why haven't they?

Code: Select all
sudo apt install imwheel

Re: Change mouse scroll speed
I did the code to install imwheel. What do I do to open the application? Where do I go to even find what I just did?

Re: Change mouse scroll speed
I just starting using Linux Mint 18.1 last week and had a problem with the scrolling of the mouse wheel. But my problem was that it was scrolling the open window by a full page for each click of the wheel which I find too course. I was using an MS wireless KBD and mouse. After reading the posts in this forum I turned off the wireless mouse and plugged in an old Dell wired one.
This mouse now scrolls the window(s) about 1/5 inch per click. So, the scrolling amount is very much dependent on the mouse, as one of the previous posters has stated.

Re: Change mouse scroll speed
Imwheel works as i have just installed it in cinnamon, however there are two parts to it.
First install sudo apt-get install imwheel
Second download & save this http://www.nicknorton.net/mousewheel.sh
Right click on the above, goto permissions and tick "allow executing file"
Now double click file and choose run.
I found by moving it up to 5, was more than fast enough.
