Canon Lbp 5200, no linux drivers

Post by scooter » Tue Feb 24, 2009 2:48 am

Hi all,
I have just installed LM and now find that I can't source a linux driver for my Canon lbp 5200 colour laser printer. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
Look forward to you answer.

Cheers, Scooter.

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it

yes;

looking at the ppd files that capt 1.8 offers; (having installed capt 1.8), using the command
ls /usr/share/cups/model/ | grep CNCUPS
there are ppd files for
CNCUPSLBP5000CAPTJ.ppd
CNCUPSLBP5000CAPTK.ppd
CNCUPSLBP5100CAPTJ.ppd
CNCUPSLBP5100CAPTK.ppd
CNCUPSLBP5300CAPTJ.ppd
CNCUPSLBP5300CAPTK.ppd
so 5000, 5100 and 5300 LBP should all be fine for linux install

(I have no idea if one renamed one of these as 5200 and did any necessary editing inside the ppd file too; if it might somehow drive the 5200 ........... ???????????
