Experiences with SSHD (Seagate) ?

Post by akw13 »

Dear All,
are there any experiences with the combined SSD/HDD from Seagate ?
I am looking for a way to speed up my old laptop and at the same time have more storage space.
Does LM support this kind of disk ?
I appreciate any comments/feedback !
Regards

I am using 2 of them with no issues in Linux Mint 17-18, Ubuntu 14.04 - 16.04

You won't get as much speed gain than with a ssd hard drive, the ssd part of the SSHD acting as a cache to improve the overall performance. This type of hardware is well supported by Linux, actually the system will detect a sata hard disk, the ssd part of the SSHD drive is managed internally by the drive's own firmware.
