MDM: Xserver not found, how do I reinstall/repair for Mint 17.3?

So the night before, my dad is chasing rainbows, and as I literally walk in the door at 6:58, he is trying his computer illiterate heart out to get on a zoom.us webinar. It installed some crap viewer on my mom's dual boot machine, and now i get the message below.

MDM: Xserver not found: /usr/bin/x :0 -audit 0 -auth /var/lib/mdm/:0.xau
Error: Command could not be executed!
Please install the x server or correct mdm configuration and restart MDM

We are running the 17.3 LTS. I do not know what package to sudo and install.

Any words of wisdom? Besides never doing that foolshness again?

I do have Cinnamon, and I tried those solutions, but I have not made any progress from whence I started. Can I edit MDM?

We reinstalled mdm and reinstalled xserver-xorg, and that fixed it.
