[SOLVED] Washed out colors with some software

Post by ArgonCooper » Mon Oct 30, 2017 5:05 pm

Hi,

I've recently noticed something weird with some software, that don't display the "right" color: the colors are washed out/faded with these applications. It happens with xviewer (whereas the color are properly displayed with gimp, pix, ..) et chromium (no problem with firefox).

Here are two screenshots, the first one with firefox on the left, chromium on the right; the second one with gimp on the left, xviewer in the right.

I'm running Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64 bits. I don't think the problem comes from gpu drivers: I have a laptop with a intel graphic card and a Nvidia one (384.90-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 driver), and the problem remains if I switch from Nvidia to Intel gpu (and even with the Nvidia gpu, if I use the xserver-xorg-video-nouveau open-source driver, it doesn't change...).

It's not a major thing, as I can switch to pix as default image viewer, and as I use firefox, but it would be nice to solve it...

Does anyone experience the same issue? Any ideas?
Thanks!

Looks very similar to the problem posted here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/461 ... rome-linux

Possibly a colour profile for a monitor you're using?

Just looked at the Anima Gap site here on FF and Chromium. Cinnamon 18.2 / Intel integrated graphics - no prob.

Thanks a lot, problem solved! Feel stupid for not having check the "color settings" in Mint parameters...
Thanks again anyway!
