Can't access Windows partition from Mint desktop

Post by thevenerable » Tue Nov 21, 2017 10:13 am

I just installed Mint as a Dual boot, and want to access some of my windows 10 folders from the Mint desktop (music, documents etc)
But I fails to mount. It says there is some error or Windows is in hibernation mode.
Any idea?

Have to restart windows the nboot into linux. If I shut down the problem happens

Yep, if you hibernate Windows, it "locks" that hard drive so that nothing else can access it. Disable hibernate. ... indows-10/

If you want to be able to boot Mint from a shutdown, disable Windows fast startup as described at ... quote]Fast startup is a feature in Windows that helps your computer start faster. You can use the following steps to disable fast startup.

Type Control Panel in the search box.
Click Control Panel.
Click Power Options.
Click Choose what the power buttons do.
Click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
Click Save changes.[/quote]Fast startup leaves Windows partitions in state Linux cannot access. It applies after a shutdown but not a reboot.
