Lenovo M710 install

Post by nkoropoff » Tue Nov 21, 2017 5:15 pm

I have a Lenovo M710 on order. It is Ubuntu-certified so I assume no issues installing the latest Mint (Cinnamon). It has been a long time since I got a new system and was wondering if there will be any changes I will need to make to BIOS before installing? I will be completely wiping the Windows 10 that comes with it. I seem to recall having to disable secure boot and UEFI but don't know if it is still necessary as it was several years ago. Thank you.

you will have to disable secure boot, but UEFI can still be used, rather than BIOS
& do check that the boot order will boot to either USB or DVD

if you are technically able to do so, it's suggested that you first remove the existing HDD,
with it's win-10 system and replace it with another <new> HDD and install LinuxMint onto that HDD.

ie: keep the original HDD for warranty purposes, if ever needed.
