In light of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I finally deleted my Facebook account. Here are my thoughts on the matter.

I don't do social media , but obviously I know many people who do .

There appears to be better ways of doing these things , but as with alternatives to Skype , it's not going to gather momentum
unless people persuade their friends and family to make the change , and migrate all of their contacts .... and that's a big ask !
But who knows ? ..... a groundswell of changing public opinion can sometimes have the power of a tsunami .

I also deleted my account. I simply don't trust them, the government or people in general. This mess confirmed what I always feared: Steve Bannon having access to ANYTHING associated with me.

But yeah, I'm done. Small circles are strong ones. I do have a couple ppl I need to stay in contact with from FB but I'll find other ways.

Honestly, I don't miss FB or Twitter. At all.

I'm not shure if I'm going to delete my facebook. I still have some friends on it that don't want to move to something else, and I want to stay in touch with them.
So probably I'm going to deactivate and only log in once a month or with birthdays / holidays

I have by no means watched all of Mark's testimony on The Hill, but from what I have watched, I would say this is another very scary situation for us, the people of the world, because while certainly some of the senators have a degree of technological literacy, it was obvious they (once again) really have limited capacities for true understanding of what's going on. At the same time, I think to the degree that Mark and the other members of the board who've spoken in interviews, it's also obvious there are a lot of oversights made over the years FB has been around. I also think there were numerous instances in Mark's testimony where he was deliberately dodging issues and trying to limit personal damage while still trying to sound contrite.

It's going to be interesting to see how this all plays out.
