help with .iso usb boot drive. Need persistance setup

Post by bobruzzo2016 » Thu Jun 14, 2018 7:08 pm

Hello

I created an ISO boot USB thumb drive (64G) with Mint Linux 19 Tara XFCE. I would like to have it SAVE my settings to next time I boot, I wont have to set the network and customizations. I looked for an option do do this but found none. Is it still possible to do this even though the USB drive already has an operating system on it? Thanks....Bob

Mint 19 is beta and unsupported. I recommend you wait until 19 is released. Nevertheless, see this thread: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=229086
There are no silly questions, but there are silly answers.

OK I didn't think of the fact that BETA might not work the way I wanted. So I downloaded and installed on a 64G USB thumb drive the current 64 bit MATE version. System boots up fine. So I looked again for link in menu for setting a persistence file but no luck finding it. Also I would like to keep the persistance file on a SEPARATE drive. I have a 500GB external USB drive I use for miscellaneous files. I would like to keep the persistance file on THIS DRIVE instead of the thumb drive. Do you think I could get a bit 'o help now? Thanks...Bob

Search for makeUSB on the web and install it. It will enable you to create a persistent live boot.
