Canon Laser Shot printer driver

Post by GS3 » Sun Sep 16, 2018 5:14 pm

I have received a Canon Laser Shot LBP-1120 printer and I would like to connect it to my Linux machine.

Can I just connect it and the machine will find and install drivers? Or do I need to install the driver myself?

In the Canon web site I see a driver which is composed of two .rpm files but I have no idea what to do with them.

Information and driver page.
You can unpack those rpm files if you wish and even convert them to deb, there are utilities for this. However, I suggest you do this a as a last resort.

I still have no idea. Can I just plug in the printer and hope LM will find a driver? Or should I install some driver first?
