[Solved] only 1024x768

Post by ieee488 » Sun Sep 16, 2018 6:00 pm

I bought a used HP Compaq 2710p laptop. It has 2 GB RAM.
https://www.cnet.com/products/hp-compaq-2710p/specs/

I damaged it somehow so it no longer boots from the hard drive.
It has an odd hard drive interface with ZIF ribbon cable so I don't have another one to try.

Anyway, I created a bootable USB of Linux Mint 19 xcfe 32-bit
It will boot fine if I boot in Compatibility Mode, but unfortunately the display is 1024x768 even though it is capable of 1280x800.

Am I stuck with 1024x768 ?
What can I do to get 1280x800?

Thanks.
