Are there any "currently maintained" blogging clients available -- that runs natively in Linux

Post by TJMcK » Sat Oct 13, 2018 9:07 pm

I'm new to blogging. But what I can tell, there once was linux software available to manage and write blogs. I'd like something to do that, but...

I can't find any blogging client for linux that is currently maintained (and none in the software packager that I could find). I did a search for this and found a number of websites mentioning some, but here was the results:
  • Drivel - last update 2009!
BloGTK - "website can't be reached"
KBlogger - don't use KDE, so prefer not to install
    Blogilo - also KDE based
Gnome Blog Editor - appears to no longer be available
Any suggestions ?

BTW, I'd like something simple, basic -- easy for a beginner.

If an application does what I need it to do, it's of no concern to me what DE it's supposedly based on. The worst that will happen is that the application will need to pull in the libraries it needs to run. It won't pull the KDE desktop.

At the end of the day, only you can decide what tool will suit you best.

First, the links that you give, mostly mention the applications that I summarized in my first email ... many of which are not maintained anymore. Some of the links contain app suggestions that are non-native to Linux (again, I prefer not to run Java apps, etc)

So, I thought that I'd check out the KDE apps (even though I dislike installing the additional libs to make them run). Here's my summary for those apps:
  • Blogilo: is "unmaintained and no longer released by the KDE community"
KBlogger: "development has stalled lately" (last update 13 years ago!)
Again, I ask, does anyone know of a simple/basic blogging client (runs natively in Linux) that is currently being maintained?
If you can't answer that, can you tell me the name of the blogging client that you currently use on LM19.
