[Solved] Wireless has stopped working (hard blocked?)

Post by gclubb » Fri Jan 11, 2019 5:39 pm

I've been using Linux Mint for years and upgraded to 19 a few months ago. Yesterday the wifi suddenly stopped working. The children use the laptop so it could be them changing the settings but I doubt it. I'm using a Zoostorm W251EL notebook.

Code for inxi Fxz:

Code: Select all

CPU~Dual core Intel Pentium 2020M (-MCP-) speed/max~1265/2400 MHz Kernel~4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 Up~14 min Mem~1790.3/7873.3MB HDD~500.1GB(4.6% used) Procs~170 Client~Shell inxi~2.3.56
rfkill list:

Code: Select all

0: phy0: Wireless LAN
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: yes
1: hci0: Bluetooth
	Soft blocked: no
	Hard blocked: no
Very grateful for any help.

Is there a switch along the front, right, or left side that will enable/disable wireless?

Hello, gclubb.

Please, try again and execute the command

Code: Select all

inxi -Fxz
exactly as it has been typed and post the complete screen output which the command inxi -Fxz will display.
The output of inxi alone, which you had posted, is of very little use.

Thanks,
Karl

Maybe fn+f2? fn+f12 or some such combo.

Many thanks for your helpful responses. It looks like the children had disabled the wireless - accidentally.
For my model of Zoostorm it turns out the the wireless key is Fn+F11.
With thanks again :D
