[SOLVED] Intel 8265 / 8275 - WiFi "Unavailable"

Post by fuzzblob » Sat Jan 12, 2019 7:18 pm

Hi there,
I have a fresh install of Linux Mint running on my laptop and I can't seem to get wifi to work. When I open the network settings it just says "Unavailable" right under "Wi-Fi".

As I'm dual booting alongside windows for now I made sure that "Wake On LAN" is disabled on that end.

I copied the official driver files for the 8265 (it doesn't have one for 8275?) adaptor in the lib/firmware directory, as instructed by the supplied README but no success after reboot https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... rking.html

To assist figuring this out I ran wireless-info using commands posted here: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=267643&p=1458023#p1458023
wireless-info results:
https://termbin.com/lnc7

The most suspicious there seems to me the result of "rfkill" showing multipl soft- and hard-blocked entries. After searching a bit on here I found this thread to be possibly aligned with my issue: viewtopic.php?f=53&t=271981

It might be related (as that persons wireless-info also contains clocked entries in the rfkill section) but as I'm not sure if my issue is actually the same I have doubts about just running the commands posted there... I don't want to break anything :D

This topic references the same hardware, but is on an older kernel so possibly unrelated viewtopic.php?f=53&t=249899

Thanks for any help in advance!
