wireless not seen

Post by eltopia » Sun Jan 13, 2019 10:20 pm

new computer from costco. Hp laptop intel core i3 4 gb 128 ssd hard drive Model 14-DF0023CL.
This is a cheap computer and I intend to use Linux.
Seemed it would be better than a Chrome for my use.
I booted with a ubs drive to Mint 19 installed on hard drive
Duel boot
The windows 10 works good and has great speed on the internet
Speed test has it right at 100
Mint however says a wire is unplugged and will not find my wireless network.
Must be some place to turn it on

Thanks

so, if you still have an Ethernet Connection - then :

Open Terminal and run

Code: Select all

wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums/wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info

Code: Select all

cat wireless-info.txt | nc termbin.com 9999
Post URL from Terminal,, back here, on your reply

I connected a wire from modem to laptop.
It said it was connecting to internet but it never appeared to.
under network connections there was no Wi-Fi connection I added one but maybe did it wrong
Is there any settings to change for the wired connection to work ?

I could not make wireless work. Perhaps HP & Microsoft stopped the wireless. It worked fine in windows but not Linux
I returned it to Costco and brought home a Chrome book
