How can I install R language upgrade

Post by david4177 » Wed Feb 13, 2019 10:50 pm

Howdy,
sudo apt-get install R installs R 3.4.4. How can I upgrade to the current stable version 3.5.2?

TIA,
David

If I have helped you solve a problem, please add [SOLVED] to your first post title, it helps other users looking for help, and keeps the forum clean.
I am using Mint 19.1 Cinnamon 64 bit with AMD A8/7410 processor . Memory 8GB

Note that in Linux, "current stable" means it's stable on the testers' distro, version, and hardware. Not necessarily yours. ANd the bugs in the repo version are absolutely meaningless in general. All the bugs are virtually certainly going to be in your own code.

Thanks for you reply?
I just want to say How much I like Mint, it runs right out of the box. Although back in the day I cut my teeth on Slackware.
Is Mint-19.1 based (impart) on Ubuntu 18.04.?
Do I need to use the first command, if so how do i get the key?
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys E298A3A825C0D65DFD57CBB651716619E084DAB9
If I use the second command with the back ticks in place I get following error, "Malformed imput, repository not added"?
