Free Synth VST plugins?

Post by Ardwok » Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:35 am

Hey everyone,

Over the last couple days I've been looking for a good long list of free Synth VSTs but I haven't been able to find decent ones till now. Can anyone recommend me some nice VSTs?

Thanks.

Moved this to chat as it's not a support request about Linux Mint.

There are various websites about this. Like the following:
http://linux-sound.org/linux-vst-plugins.html
https://lmms.io/documentation/Tested_VSTs
https://www.audiopluginsforfree.com/linux/vst-linux/
http://www.linuxsynths.com/

Thanks a lot for your suggestions. I just have one question though, are the VSTs on these lists also Linux compatible?

I do know that some VSTs are indeed compatible like Dexed and Helm but I am not sure about all the others. Is there a way to find that out or do I have to manually try them all? I started using LMMS just a few months back. Thanks again!

If you're using lmms, I'd go through the VSTs they have tested as I linked you to: https://lmms.io/documentation/Tested_VSTs. For more suggestions the lmms forum is probably a better place to find people that would know.

^The list of working VST's is pretty old. If you're not on the latest beta AppImage of lmms-1.2 this is the first thing I would look into.

I'm one of the lmms developers and most of us are active on our Discord channel.

If you search for a vst on the lmms issue tracker or on the discord channel and it doesn't show up, it most likely works in lmms with the latest beta versions (rc7/rc8).
