Is it possible to have Linux Mint with Cinnamon 4.0 and also have the best of Ubuntu on the same partition?
I would love to have Linux Mint benefit of Cinnamon 4.0, however I would also like to have Ubuntu?
the specific package that I am looking for is:
ubuntu-desktop 1.417.1 amd64 The Ubuntu desktop system
Has anybody done this?

Don't. It's messy, and at the very least your system will become unpredictable:

Re: Install ubuntu-desktop on Linux Mint?
The reason I use Linux Mint is because of Ubuntu's LTS + Cinnamon/Nemo on top because I dislike GNOME3. It's 100% possible to transform Mint into stock Ubuntu but it's self defeating unless you really want it like that. It's still a good learning experience because it shows how Linux works under the hood.

Re: Install ubuntu-desktop on Linux Mint?
are you looking for the old ubuntu unity desktop or the new gnome desktop

Re: Install ubuntu-desktop on Linux Mint?
You can only use one desktop environment at a time. So if you manage to install the current desktop that comes with Ubuntu on your Linux Mint, you will NOT be getting the benefits of Cinnamon.

If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!
Re: Install ubuntu-desktop on Linux Mint?
Are you though? As Moem said, you can only use one desktop at a time and your post does not sound like you actually want to replace your Cinnamon desktop. So what Ubuntu-specific thing are you exactly looking for?xavierbaez wrote: ⤴Sun Jun 16, 2019 5:11 pmI would love to have Linux Mint benefit of Cinnamon 4.0, however I would also like to have Ubuntu?
