Images in L.O. Base <SOLVED>

Post by lsemmens » Thu Aug 15, 2019 11:25 pm

I have developed a database to catalogue my stamp collection.
Images are stored in a folder and linked in Base i.e. not stored in the table.
I have set up a button to view the image. The control is set to "on mouse button released" = "Standard.Module1.openMainImage (document, Basic)" which then opens the original image full size in PIX. Since the upgrade to 19.2 Pix has become slower than a wet fortnight to load and close.

Does anyone know where, and how, to change the default from PIX to xViewer? That would solve my problems.

Right click on file, choose Open With from menu, click on xViewer, check Remember this application and click Open. This will change default application for that file type to xViewer.

Thant only works from within Nemo, or any other browser, not from within Base. I already have xViewer as the default image viewer in Cinnamon.

Maybe the wrong MIME type, check what you've got Pix as the default for:

Code: Select all

grep pix.desktop ~/.config/mimeapps.list

Thanks gm10 grep, pix.desktop ~/.config/mimeapps.list, did nothing at all. Was there supposed to be some output? I went back and re-tried showing the image and still as slow as ever.

Only if Pix had still been associated with something, but apparently not, so that's ok. That does however mean that I do not know what's happening for you. I never used LO Base but in LO Writer if I drop an image in there and then right-click > Edit with External Tool it loads my default association. Maybe you could check whether that is working for you or whether it also opens with Pix and not Xviewer?

In Base, the only options you get when you right click is to "insert image from" and :"remove image" left click does nothing unless you double click, and then all it does is open the "insert image" window. The only way I can view a large image was via a button which loads pix. It looks like I might have to write a macro and assign said macro to the button which is what I was hoping to avoid.

Ignore me (I AM brain damaged, that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it). I HAD already written a script to launch Pix, and all I needed to do was to change it to launch xviewer. My stupid.......:D

No worries, I was actually half expecting something like this after your last post. Happens to the best of us. ;)
