Wired Network Printing Problem

Post by biged46us » Fri Sep 06, 2019 6:01 pm

I'm new to Linux.

I have a wired network with two laptops, a NAS, and a Brother Printer. Whenever I want to print, the printer will not wake from standby mode. If I power cycle it it will then print, what's happening here? The printer has a static network address.

What printer do you have?

Did you download the install program from Brother and run it for the install?

I'm running a dual boot. Brother provides drivers only for Windows, which I have installed. When awake it prints just fine with Linux. My problem is that the printer goes into sleep mode and won't awaken when I submit a print job in Linux via Libre Office

Brother provides drivers for linux too. Go to their site and input your model number. Then download and run the install software. You still didnt list what printer you have so I cannot provide a direct link to the driver needed.

??????

I'm happily running an HL4140CN wired network printer on a static IP address, downloaded the linux drivers from brother and pretty much painless.
