Hello from Utah

Post by mountainmanmike » Wed Sep 11, 2019 7:09 pm

Linux Mint has been my goto for years. I loved it at first site. I did find myself going back to windows because of "things" I could not do in Linux. I finally had enough from Windblows and fully (99%) converted over. I have to keep it in storage until I am sure I will not need it for the business I sold this summer (quickbooks). I really enjoy cinnamon the most.
Most recently I find myself being very concerned with privacy and security. I have De-googled, De-facebooked, De-Microshafted, Tomorrow I will be De-Verizoning. I am concerned about the future of Canonical and the direction they are heading, so I am considering installing LMDE. I have it on virtualbox now.
My wife will finally give up her old (12 years) laptop. It is windows 7 and with the eol near, she will let me finally get her mint. She gets this one and I get to build a new computer. yeah!
I thought I was a member of the forums for a long time, but I could not recall my user name and gave up my gmail account obviously. So, I am new again. :D

Welcome back!
If that old laptop runs W7 well, it will probably run Mint well... XFCE at least. Well worth a try, to make it into a usable spare or giveaway.

you forgot to mention abandoning Twitter, that cesspool of contentions.
All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....
