[SOLVED] Wifi quit working after updating kernel to 4.15.0-62

Post by kelset97 » Thu Sep 12, 2019 11:11 pm

After installing kernel version 4.15.0-62 my wireless stopped working.
Wireless adapter is an Intel Corporation Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300

Rolling back to kernel version 4.15.0-60 resolved the issue.

I would like to be able to keep my kernel up to date. What can be done to resolve the issue after upgrading to the new kernel?

You can upgrade to kernel 4.18.0-25 if you want - just open your synaptic package manager and search for 4.18.0-25 and install the following

linux-headers-4.18.0-25
linux-modules-4.18.0-25-generic
linux-headers-4.18.0-25-generic
linux-modules-extra-4.18.0-25-generic
linux-image-4.18.0-25-generic

after installation reboot

The 4.18 kernels are no longer supported, went EOL before August

Just skip the -62 kernel. Keep running on the -60 kernel until an even newer kernel becomes available. Risk is acceptable.

No. 4.18 is dead; 4.15 is LTS and full of life. See:

Pjotr,

I will follow your advice and just skip the -62 kernel hopefully the issue is resolved in the next release.
