  1. Install 'wmctrl' if not already installed: sudo apt-get install wmctrl
  2. Open System Settings > Startup Applications
  3. On the bottom of the window, click on the "+" button, then select "Custom command".
    The Add Startup Program window appears; enter:
    1. Name: (This is just a label for the startup list. I use "tomboy".)
    2. Command: tomboy && wmctrl -c tomboy
    3. Comment: (Optional; shows up as a subheading on the startup entry.)
    4. Startup delay: (per your preference).
  4. Click Add
Test by either:
  • highlight the Tomboy entry in the table, then click the gear icon ("Run now"), or
  • log out and back in.
The tomboy notes icon appears in the system tray.

I don't use Tomboy, but I applaud this post because you are sharing your findings with others on the forum.
Therefore-- double thumbs up

I wanted to put this in community.linuxmint.com, but I couldn't figure out how to create a new tutorial. Where is the best place to put posts like this -- community or forums>tutorials? If community, how does one create a new tutorial?

Thanks
