Hi Murphy, Just tell her you know a guy, (Me), who not only still uses a flip phone, but also has an original "motorola razor" flip phone as a backup...lol...DAMIEN
I will. Her Uncle Brad still uses a Motorola Razer as his phone. So does her grandfather. When her grades slipped, I told her she was going to get a flip phone, and she said that she would drop out of school, she could not face to social stigma... LOL.

You can of course really rub it into her, just tell her that her next phone will not only ba a flip phone, but it will be one of those "old" folks "Jitterbug" flips with the very large key pads on it designed for old feeble eyes and hands to manipulate...heheheheheh...DAMIEN

That laptop has 3 fans and vents everywhere, looks like a nice little heater for the winter. That 80% battery charging is to prolong Lithium ion battery life, I use an app on my cell phone for the same thing.

Your gamer daughter seen your new toy yet? Remember, Resistance is futile
She has the Dell G7 I bought two years ago, and she will not let me use it. She has not noticed this computer.....yet. The youngest is now complaining that her "old" iPhone 7 plus is too outdated, and she needs a new one. So I told her that she was welcome to get a new phone as long as she paid for it. That took all the joy out of it for her, she decided that her old phone worked just fine. All her friends just got new iPhone 11s, and she is using an "old" phone so she is embarrassed that her phone is so "out of date".
Give her two cans and a string.

That would cause a serious "melt-down", and would almost be funny to see. Both are really good kids, and so I am somewhat willing to help them within reason, since they could be worse, much worse. I am blessed with my kids. But the oldest has started taking over my desktop again, since she claims her "good save files" are on MY desktop.

What's the matter with semaphore? A couple of flags shouldn't cost too much - even new ones.

Sadly, my tribe all have better technology than I, these days. Of course they all have taken a vow of poverty like their father - i.e. they got married and had kids. :D

hi Isemmens, Been there, done that, but a slight correction is in order.

Its not JUST a "vow of poverty".

Getting married is a "life sentence", (divorce changes your "Sentence" to doing "Hard Time"), and each kid is an additional "Life Sentence" to be served "Consecutively"...hehehehe...DAMIEN

LOL, me too, I get the hand me downs for the most part. This new MSI is my most up to date computer in a long time. Even my MacBook was two years old when I got it.

The poor girl! An iPhone 7! You'll be responsible for any mental damage for her having to use such an antiquated phone in front of her friends!
Unless stated otherwise Mint 18.3-64 XFCE

She made me take her to the Apple store, and after waiting for our appointment for three hours, she got the new iPhone 11 (with her own money, and $100 of Daddy's cash). I made her get a case, and screen protector. Next payday she is getting AppleCare since she is rough on her phones. I told her the 7 was the last phone I would buy for her, and I held fast. Next off to get a new battery for the Spouse-Unit on her iPhone 8 since hers only lasts 24 hours.

Consider it an early x-mas gift for the girl. I hope she is as delighted with her phone as with her generous daddy.

I know a couple of people who got one of those. Several had really old Apple phones really worn out. People seem to do long with iPhones.
One friend showed how the new phone can record time-lapse videos, that was impressive.

I don't have an Apple phone. It wouldn't cross my mind to wait for 3 hours to be allowed to spent that much of money ... on a phone with not even a memory card slot or an usb connector ...
Unless stated otherwise Mint 18.3-64 XFCE

I told my wife that if she had killed me right after we got married, she would now be up for parole. She was not pleased by my attempt at humor.

Switched the motherboard at the last minute to an Asus Crosshair VIII hero wifi board. I have had good luck with the ASUS boards, and my personal build has an X370 Crosshair VI Hero, and works just fine.

Updated my system with the EVGA RTX 2070 Super, two 2gb SSD, and a 1 gb SSD (game drive). I only have one mechanical hard drive in the system now. 7.5 tb storage total.

The new build is NICE. This machine will really allow the kids to do....homework. The ASUS PB277Q monitor (2560x1440p) at 75hz is nice, (too)bright, and just the right size (27").
