Safest to install Mint and test Mint with the Win10 drive uninstalled, less chance of a mistake. Then re-install the Win10 drive, check that Win10 still boots, change UEFI boot order to put Mint before Win10 and then update GRUB.
Mint Mate 19.1. Main rig is HP 800G2 I5 6500 16GB ram, 120GB boot drive, 2x3TB, 1x4TB data drives. Oldest rig is Mate 18.3 on Dell D620 with 32bits core duo.

I'll give it a try, not sure when I can do it but I'll post back here with results.

Ok got it installed and it's UEFi, however I have no way to choose which SSD in bios. It's just the one with Linux, so I'm going to try the OS prober and see if I can get grub to find windows 10.
Seems my older UEFi doesn't allow multiple OS bootloader's to show.
The win SSD doesn't even show up in bios. It's read when first booting but doesn't show up in the list. :-/
I'll report back when I figure it out

Nope bios or grub can't see windows drive :-(
Gparted says it's there.
I don't understand. Unless it was also a legacy install but when I set bios to legacy and UEFi it still doesn't show.
It shows as there right when I boot and it lists drives.
I don't get it

With firmware set to UEFI or UEFI with CSM, start machine and tap f11 key continuously should bring up the boot menu. Is Mint boot loader and Win10 boot manager listed?

Ok, so when I check boot menu in UEFi only, only Linux shows up.
Says:
UEFI: Built in EFI shell
Ubuntu (sata2: Kingston)
UEFi OS (sata2: Kingston
Ubuntu

When I boot in UEFi and legacy it shows the windows drive.
Windows was installed with legacy and I should have just left my legacy install of Linux mint :-(
Lol.

I'm booting into windows now and it's all good in windows.

So I have to re-re- install Linux mint in msdos partition table mode and grub should see both lol

Now that I think about it, it makes sense. It was a win7 machine and I upgraded.

My fault there, should have you run sudo parted -l with Win10 drive installed to output partition information and confirm Win10 installation mode. Was this a Win7 upgraded to Win10?

Yes lol. 7 to 10.
Luckily the install is crazy fast on this system and it's not a new install. Just need to recharge my swappiness and other little things.
But if I reinstall now in legacy mode, when grub updates on initial update set it should add it for me.
Waiting right now for a year of updates on Windows 10 to finish then I'll go and wipe and reinstall in legacy mode my old way.
No biggie. Best lessons are the hard ones you don't forget.
Now with both legacy I should just be able to pull either drive and have everything be normal later on.
(If need be I'd have to update grub if I pulled the windows drive)

I threw a 1tb WD spinning drive in too so for Linux I won't have to use the external for timeshift.
Should I configure that in Linux?
Plan on pretty much splitting it 700ntfs/300ext4
That has to be done in Linux probably.
But will windows see the ntfs petition on that drive?
Plan to use between them for storage. And I use the spinning drive in windows for my document folder and downloads and stuff

All is well!!!
Boots to grub and gives option to boot to windows. All working well!!
Boots back into Linux.
Was able to partition spinning drive 700ntfs/300ext4 and set up for snapshots on ext4.

Still don't know why bios only shows Kingston (Linux) drive. But all are in boot menu.

So all in all a success!!!

Athi a special thanks to you for helping out!!

I put the noatime note in the fstab but only for the root partition (the tutorial was confusing on what other partitions I can do it with but root (/) was clear to put that on there.
Still have to set up trim I believe it sets to run weekly from install.
Still have to remember what else I did to the other system lol.

Good to hear that everything is working. Have to get into the habit of asking for partition layout, seems to be more post for machines with legacy mode Win10 installation.

When you enable Timeshift, go into Settings and set location and frequency of snapshots. Default settings will quickly fill up your / partition.
