AC1300 TP-link adapter doesn't work

Post by Svetlana » Wed Dec 04, 2019 8:59 pm

Hi,

I bought a tp-link AC1300 adapter and I tried multiples methods to install his driver but none works.

If it's important, my kernel is 4.15.0-70-generic

When I run this command:

Code: Select all

sudo dkms status
I have these results

Code: Select all

svetlana@svetlana-MS-7B87:~$ sudo dkms status
nvidia, 430.50, 4.15.0-70-generic, x86_64: installed
rtl8812au, 5.6.4.2~bionic, 4.15.0-70-generic, x86_64: installed

Is your adapter a TP-Link AC1300 PCIe?

This was given as a solution in another thread:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-generic
sudo apt-get --reinstall install bcmwl-kernel-source
Reboot

Maybe this will do it:

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/cilynx/rtl88x2bu.git
cd rtl88x2bu
VER=$(sed -n 's/\PACKAGE_VERSION="\(.*\)"/\1/p' dkms.conf)
sudo rsync -rvhP ./ /usr/src/rtl88x2bu-${VER}
sudo dkms add -m rtl88x2bu -v ${VER}
sudo dkms build -m rtl88x2bu -v ${VER}
sudo dkms install -m rtl88x2bu -v ${VER}
sudo modprobe 88x2bu

It works ! But now it doesn't see my 5GHz network, only the 2.4GHz

Code: Select all

svetlana@svetlana-MS-7B87:~$ iwconfig
wlxd037454312d8  IEEE 802.11bgn  ESSID:"my network"  Nickname:"<WIFI@REALTEK>"
          Mode:Managed  Frequency:2.462 GHz  Access Point: xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
          Bit Rate:144.4 Mb/s   Sensitivity:0/0
          Retry:off   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality=67/100  Signal level=42/100  Noise level=0/100
          Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0  Invalid misc:0   Missed beacon:0

enp37s0   no wireless extensions.

lo        no wireless extensions.

EDIT: No, in fact, it blocks on "connecting" and retest again and again ...

I'm not alone on my router so I can't and on my others devices, I see "myNetwork" and "myNetwork_5GHz", not here with this adapter

So, it's not working at all now even on 2.4GHz?

Maybe someone else will know what to do. I can't find anything else except changing the channel which you say you can't do:

I did these command:

Code: Select all

sudo ifconfig wlxd037454312d8 down
sudo ifconfig wlxd037454312d8 up
"wlxd037454312d8" is my wireless interface

Now, I see my 5GHz network but it loops again, I don"t understand why ...

Maybe there are interferences with an other driver ?

My drivers:

Code: Select all

svetlana@svetlana-MS-7B87:~$ sudo dkms status
[sudo] Mot de passe de svetlana :
bcmwl, 6.30.223.271+bdcom, 4.15.0-70-generic, x86_64: installed
nvidia, 430.50, 4.15.0-70-generic, x86_64: installed
nvidia, 430.50, 4.15.0-73-generic, x86_64: installed
