Log spam related to AMD PCI Bridge

Post by camoguy » Wed Dec 04, 2019 9:52 pm

Im getting continous log spam and intermitten lockups... I've tried Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon and 19.2 XFCE, same issue. I'm thinking its hardware related. Computer is a HP ENVY m6-n113dx Notebook PC. Anyone seen this before or know what to do? Google searches haven't turned up anything useful. Seems to be related to this Allocating resources message,

and how are we supposed to know what logs you are talking about. if you just post some snippets of some text on your system must mean you know what you're talking about, otherwise post the full log and it's location from whence it came. and you haven't updated your computer in a while, do that then come back after you reboot

but those seem like normal messages posted not errors, how big are the logs. i delete my logs quite regularly since i do not logs being spammed. have you deleted your logs?

Your kernel seems to be old, I am not shure, dont have xfce here. Check the update-manager. If it shows a kernel update, selected it and install it.

I recently downloaded a fresh iso and did a clean install. I forgot there were updates, but it doesn't matter, after reboot the dmesg log is still filled with allocating resources messages. I have never seen this on other computers, so I suspect it's something wrong.

Code: Select all

CPU: Quad Core AMD FX-7500 Radeon R7 10 Compute Cores 4C+6G (-MCP-) speed/min/max: 2096/1100/2100 MHz
Kernel: 4.15.0-72-generic x86_64 Up: 9m Mem: 1414.4/4923.5 MiB (28.7%) Storage: 698.64 GiB (1.5% used) Procs: 178
Shell: bash 4.4.20 inxi: 3.0.32
My kern.log is 6.6M and syslog is 2M. This system was installed Dec 1.

if you don't want logs go into /var/log/ delete all the files including inside the folders, but leave folders alone. DONE
i don't like logs either
what you expect me to read logs :D as if i don't have my own. try this one with kernel 5.4

Code: Select all
