Hi Seeh.

I was going to ask if you have a Ham rig attached to your computer until I Googled Savi Office Base Station and saw that's the Plantronics device. Maybe it's just a configuration issue that needs adjusting. Let's see the output of pacmd list-cards please. Also, while sound is playing, run pacmd list-sinks and include that output as well.

Re: Headset Plantronics WO350

Post by MrEen »

Go to the Configuration tab of PulseAudio Volume Control and change the Profile from Analog Mono Duplex to Analog Stereo Output + Analog Mono Input and see if starts working.

Also, still need pacmd list-sinks output with sound playing to know if there are any other tweaks necessary.

Re: Headset Plantronics WO350

Post by MrEen »

Whoops, Mono Duplex might be correct after all. Let's see the pacmd list-sinks output please.

For some reason, the phenomenon is now the same on a Windows computer. As if it was suddenly broken. Windows recognizes it, but it doesn't produce any sound and the microphone remains silent. So obviously not Linux specific.

Try another USB port if you can. Especially if it's plugged into a USB3 port right now.

In your first pacmd list-sinks output, sound was trying to play to your built-in sound card. The second was correct, and looks fine except for this line:

Code: Select all

analog-output: Analog Output (priority 9900, latency offset 0 usec, available: unknown)
That unknown can be a bugger to fix sometimes.

If the above doesn't help, you could also try this to see if it helps:

Code: Select all

apt install --reinstall alsa-base alsa-utils pulseaudio linux-sound-base libasound2
Also, try shutting down instead of rebooting when changing operating systems. Your last post makes me think this might be the real issue in your case.

Just to be sure, make sure to do a full shut down, then boot up and see if it works. I wouldn't be surprised if it's defective, but just wanted to be sure before you replace it.
