PPA -- Xzenial

Post by chinook »

Trying install Opencpn though a PPA but the response is this PPA does not support Xzenial.
Do I need to go to a new version of Mint 18.1 Sonya? Or is there a PPA that does work.

According to the OpenCPN PPA page, Xenial (LM 18.x base) is supposed to be supported.

Depending on how you're trying to add the PPA, make sure you have the correct command. e.g., xenial, not xzenial.

<Minor correction>
"Mint 18.1 Sonya" should be "Mint 18.1 Serena". I am 100% sure, because I am logged in to Mint 18.1 Serena at the moment. :wink:

Really? Linux Mint 18.2 is based on Ubuntu 16.04, nickname xenial. Raises the question who or what is Zenial?

Hello, chinook.
As you never really replied to JoeFootball's correct comment,

let me ask you to please post the full text output, which the following to terminal commands will display:
  • inxi -Sr
  • sudo apt-get update
This will tell whether the OpenCPN entry in your software sources is correct or not and whether your system can query the PPA.

Best regards,
Karl
