I had the same error: ima: Error Communicating to TPM chip.
May be procedure below is helpfully to solve the problem:
This error appeared after installation of LM 20 (from ISO file) to my HP EliteBook 8540p.
In the BIOS Setup the TPM Embedded Security was greyed out.
According to Handbook I have to define a Password to enter the BIOS as administrator, and the greyed out of TPM Settings are gone.
After enabling the TPM the error ima: ... during setup is solved

Good luck. I have that message since I installed v20. It does affect boot time, but that's all. Just ignore. I do not have TPM in my bios.

Hallo Shaw0n
I can give you a step by step procedure, but only for my HP EliteBook 8540p, all other BIOS (other type or brand) looks different and my help may not be more detailed as already posted.

Hallo Shaw0n
1. Start your HP Notebook by switching power on.
2. In the first seconds after power on you have to press ESC to enter the boot menu.
3. Select Option BIOS-Setup F10
If no request for password follow the instructions 4.1 to 4.4 otherwise jump to step 5
4.1 On the next screen you see on top of the screen 3 Options: select Security
4.2 The options for TPM Embedded Security are greyed out
4.3 Set password
4.4 Safe settings and restart the notebook by following steps 1 to 3 and jump to step 5
5. Enter your password
6. On the next screen you see on top of the screen 3 Options: select Security
7. The options for TPM Embedded Security are now available; select this option
8. In the next screen make sure that Availability of the device is visible (in my case the option hidden was set)
9. Save the settings and restart the notebook normally and the error messages should be gone

I can not help, but I have the same problem (well, it might not be a real problem) and I'd like to point to it: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=327629 (it's basically a different issue, but also the TPM error occurs)

I have to similar boards (ASRock J5005-ITX and J4105-ITX, both Intel Gemini Lake), both running with upgraded Linux Mint 20 XFCE.
The J4105-ITX has a newer Beta-BIOS.

On both systems Intel PPT (Intel Platform Trust Technology) is activated. I've checked it right now in the BIOS and this is the only option for TPM.

On one system (J5005) everything is fine and I don't get an error.
On the other system (J4105, newer beta BIOS) I have the error "ima: Error Communicating to TPM chip" (8 times).

It looks like this error is new, since I've upgraded to Mint 20 now.

Dear Shaw0n
Can you post screen shots from the various step you have undertaken?
May be I can see similarities to my BIOS screens and find the last topic.
