Sound is coming through only one side of the headphones

Post by matej19501986 »

Hi everyone!

I am on a fresh installation of Linux Mint 20.1 with Cinnamon DE.

Everything is working great so far, and I am loving it, except one tiny problem: I am only getting sound from one side of my headphones(audio from my HDMI is working perfectly). It does not bother me so much because I can still hear sound from my headphones but only on one side. The Model of my headphones is Sony.

I believe that I have ruled out the hardware issues because they are working fine on my Samsung tablet.

Here is some information that you might find useful

Re: Sound is coming through only one side of the headphones

Post by MrEen »

Hi matej19501986, and welcome to the forum.

Play some audio through the headphones and run this command:

Code: Select all

pacmd list-sinks
Paste that output and we'll see if the cause reveals itself there.

It is possible the headphone jack needs to be inserted just a tiny bit more, or removed just a hair from fully inserted. The above output will at least let us know if it's sending out stereo.

Well, it's certainly outputting in stereo. Try playing some audio and fiddling around with the jack for a bit.

If still no luck, let's see this output:

Code: Select all

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0
