SOLVED - Taskbar disappeared (!?)

Post by DougWa »

20.2 Uma, MATE, 64 bit.
POOF, no taskbar.
In Panel Properties, "orientation" says BOTTOM, there's a check in "EXPAND" and no check in "AUTOHIDE".
Any advice?

This info might be old but worth a shot.... https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/2195

open your terminal window and type the following command bellow and press enter

gsettings reset-recursively org.mate.panel

You might have to log out and back in or restart that PC to get it to show the effect, but it should restore your panel.

*nods humbly*. I've been EXACTLY in that situation before and it drove me nuts...I ended up reinstalling LM from the beginning only to stumble upon this much more simple solution that has worked everytime so far.

Now I don't know if it is related but when it comes to nuking certain files...I'm willing to bet if you accidentally nuke the right file or folder...this solution I mentioned might not even work. So always take caution in what files you delete permanently. ( most notably / ( aka root) files..usr/bin...etc ...python stuff too)

Please let me know if it worked or not. Crossing fingers. :D
