I am helping a thread on Linuxquestions.org about this printer. He can print fine but the scanner will not connect. I seen the many posts on LM forums how does that effect this persons case. The link is below.

Incidentally, there is a lot users in that thread who do not seem to know the difference between SANE backends and frontends.

He got it working by using the brsaneconfig4 through the command line.
