[SOLVED] How long does it take for bugs to be fixed?

Post by mlacharles »

How long does it take for bugs to be fixed? I and a few other people have noticed a bug with Seahorse and GPG. Here is the link to what I believe is the current status of the bug.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1900347

I assume no one has been assigned to fix this from the notation. It's been 2 or 3 years since since it was reported. Is this normal? Will a fix just be added to an updated version of Seahorse?

It appears it was fixed upstream by the Gnome developers in version 40.x + Mint 21 will have a version with the bugfix included- can't see that the fix was ever backported to the version available in Focal / Mint 20.x

In general - how long is a piece of string - depends on the project, how much of a show-stopper the bug is, whether it has security implications, is the project still under active development, can the bug be easily reproduced etc etc.
For custom Nemo actions, useful scripts for the Cinnamon desktop, and Cinnamox themes visit my Github pages.

A little searching tells me that seahorse has 52 active bugs listed and 3 developers. Not encouraging IMO.

Between one day and several years.
