<SOLVED> Forum running slow today? (12 Jan 2023)
Has anyone noticed the Forum running slow today (and yesterday)? Random trouble connecting?
Using Brave browser but same on other browsers as well. Is it just me?

Re: Forum running slow today?
Sorry, I'm running some heavy task on the forums today. It should be okay again in about 30-45 minutes from now.

Re: Forum running slow today?
That's a relief. Thought it was some naughty people trying it on.
Re: Forum running slow today?
About half an hour ago from now, ie at 21:32 UCT, the forum was still slow for me and taking about 5 seconds or more to move from page to page.
Now suddenly it is back to instantaneous.
Thank goodness for that!

The forums will be slow again today, continuing with the heavy task that isn't complete yet.

Don't you just "love" it when a task that's supposed to take, say, a day winds up taking several days? Thanks for letting us know what's going on!

Re: Forum running slow today?
I have had problems for several weeks now. Site is still slow for me...not as slow as it was, but still not the usual snappy quickness of a month ago.
edit:: as an example, this post took about 10 seconds to respond back to me once I selected the Submit button.

Interesting, still slow today. Other sites are whippy quick for me but this one is still slow. I have had moments were it was very quick. Of course I am on Mint Vanessa with only the UFW set at its defaults. Browser is latest deb from Vivaldi.
I will disable some extensions to see if they are not playing well with the site.

Re: Forum running slow today?
It should be slow today. xenopeek specifically mentioned in this post which was made 5 hours ago that it would be slow today. There will be times today that it will be faster depending upon where in the cycle the tasks he is running are at, but you should expect to get slow response time today.

Not complaining but the forum is still slow for me. Made a post that took about 10 seconds to accept the submit button. No extensions on, Vivaldi browser.

Re: Forum running slow today?
While it's a bit better than yesterday, it's still logier than normal for me with uploads (submits) taking the longest.

I myself am really only wondering why no one is expressing being curious as to what those expensive tasks are that xenopeek is running...

Re: Forum running slow today?
I didn't ask because it would probably be over my head and knowing wouldn't have made the forums any faster.
Edit: Well, that reply was pretty much back to normal speedwise.

Re: Forum running slow today?
Well, dunno. He may be running a forum-backup with e.g.
dd
whereas you would've been able to advise FreeFileSync - Lady Fitzgerald

Admittedly, he's probably not running a forum backup with e.g.
dd
. Was just a lighthearted comment...
