<SOLVED> Google Online Account cannot be connected.

Post by Stonley890 »

The pop-up browser window is unresponsive when attempting to connect a Google account from System Settings. Other services work as intended in the pop-up browser. Is this a problem on my end? If not, is there some other way I can connect it?
I am a novice switching from Windows 11, so I'm still figuring out Linux.

In that video, what does it say across from "Information about . . . "
Perhaps I need to stay out of this one since I am on LM 20.3, but when I go to System Settings it looks like this:

It looks the same for me. The menu I'm having problems with is in Online Accounts.
Information about GNOME Online Accounts:

It's just an information page.

Is this a problem on my end?
I think so. When I open Online Accounts and click on Google below "Add an account" I can fill in the email or phone just fine.

You're right. I tried it again and it's working! Might've just needed a restart.
Thank you!

This is the same problem I am experiencing. Were you able to get any resolution on your end?

Yes! The problem appears to be with the Nvidia 353 driver. Try using 252 or the Nouveau driver.

I think you mean "535" and "525" drivers ...

Nonetheless, changing drivers to make one app work doesn't seem to be that effective. I can change to an earlier drive in the attempt to make this single app work, then change back to the recommended driver afterwards? I am thinking this is less than optimal.

Is there no other work-around?

You are correct, the drivers I specified were misspelled. I apologize.

With the current 535 drivers, it seems to be impossible to get beyond the password page. I don't know your situation, but you may want to consider switching to 525 or Nouveau until 535 becomes more stable.
Otherwise, you'll have either to switch and restart to set up your account, then switch back, or go without Google integration until the problem is fixed.

I have chosen to do nothing and keep with 535, as I don't heavily rely on accessing Google services and can wait. Still, it isn't at all very difficult to get it set up, only a bit less convenient.

Thanks. I think I'll wait. I use my GPU far more frequently than I use the Google integration. Fingers-crossed a fix is on the way soon.
