[SOLVED] Dell Inspiron 5515 does not resume each 2nd time after lid closed

Post by richcreek »

Hi,

after closing the lid of my Dell notebook the system is going into suspend mode. After opening the lid again it resumes. Which is fine.
But if do the same a second time the resume fails. Screen remains black. I have to make a hard reboot.

I'm wondering where to look at. Is it the power mangement? The hardware drivers? The kernel? To me it's so strange that it works as expected the first time only. Actually this is telling me that system is able to recognize the hardware event.
Any ideas or recommendation?

This is my configuration:

Welcome to the forum, richcreek.

There are a number of Ryzen laptops which have issues with the graphics resuming from boot over time. You can try a newer kernel, which will have a newer graphics driver, to see if that helps.

You can install the latest 6.1-oem kernel with

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-oem-22.04c
and reboot.

Hi SMG,
thanks a lot. I installed OEM kernel 6.1 and I can now open and close the lid as often I want to.
Suspend and resume without an issue.

Good to hear that worked. :)
