Post by Mirckof »

Hi guys, I can't use my SIM card on linuxmint. In windows works good.

When try to create new connection in network manager the app shut down.
I also tried with modem manager gui but didn't work.
Network Connections let me create wan connection but always close inmediatly

In LinuxMint 20 it worked well.

you say the SIM card does not work?
The 1st test for that, is if you have access to your Wireless carrier and make phone calls, and will it access the Internet on its' own?

Are you using a Cellphone to provide a WiFi hotspot then?

If that is the case, are you sure that the Hotspot is 'ON' and working okay,
can you test for that with another device?
e.g.; another cellphone in WiFi mode, or a different laptop in WiFi mode?

When you did the install of LM21, did you check to see that Live Session found the Cellphone's Hotspot and was the laptop's browser able to access the internet?

I have never owned a laptop with an internal SIM.

you did not answer my very last question though, if you boot up on a USB stick, and stay in LIVE SESSION, will the tablet/SIM/ device detect and connect to the internet?

I don't have experience with what you have, hope a Internet Guru comes along to help you.

It's a long time since I did this, but did have a SIM card in my T430. From memory I had to set up a profile in mint and I had to google my mobile phone provider to find the correct settings. This was probably on LM19.

now the problem is in LM21.1 because in LM20 was working normally. I tried with another SIM card with diferent provider and the same problem. The APN also was the correct. The problem I think is in the driver, but I don't know how to solve this issue.

I suggest you use a LM20 ISO stick and boot up into Live Session.

then exam and record the network profile...
then go back to LM21.1 and look at the current profile, make it match the one from LM20

if the LM20.x was working, then you could just stick with that.

I still have LM20 installed in another SSD.
I will try

After thousand of tries and also my bluetooth mouse was never detected, I made a downgrade to mint 20.3
After that, mobile broadband and the mouse started working correctly.

So, my conclusion is LinuxMint 21 is a shit or focal is a shit or both even cancers

Thx all for your answers

Must be a combo of your platform for some reason.
my pc is a ASUS FX705GM and has always found the mouse, and printers, and open WiFi channels.

I used to have an older ASUS that refused to honor anything, I finally junked it
