Third monitor is blinking

Hello,

I have two external monitors connected through usb-c to my laptop. The "second" monitor works well but the third one is "blinking" not regularly. I mean it displays the image for half a second or less or several seconds and then it goes black for few seconds 2, 3, 10 or a minute or even "lose signal".
That's not an external hardware issue has this appears on any desk having the same double monitor setup.

Can someone help me ?

Does this mean you have each monitor connected with a separate cable?

Do you know if all the external ports are connected to both GPUs or are only some connected to the Nvidia GPU?

Dell has a guide just for connecting external monitors XPS 17 9700 External Display Connection Guide. It mentions 8K displays flickering in the Troubleshooting section when two are attached, but that seems to be the only issue mentioned in that section.

Have you tried the Nvidia-525 driver to see if that helps? I suggest taking a Timeshift snapshot before testing an Nvidia driver change.

Thanks SMG,

The first monitor (DP-0.1 ) is plugged on the second (DP-0.8 ) one and then the second is plugged to the laptop using usb-c.

About Nvidia, I can see in the NVIDIA Server Settings, the two monitors listed under GPU. I tested the 515.86.01 and 525.89.02 drivers. It doesn't change anything.

Here is the output of xrand. As I'm going from place to place, several monitors are listed in this output. The two one to consider are DP-0.1 and DP-0.8. The one blinking is DP-0.1 and the one working is DP-0.8

You are daisy-chaining the monitors? I don't see that as a listed option in the manual. Everything they show indicate either directly connecting the monitor to the laptop or directly connecting the monitor to a docking station. They do not list daisy-chain options.

The daisy-chaining may be why there are blinking problems.

I do not understand what you mean by several monitors listed but only certain ones apply. xrandr only lists monitors which are attached when the command is run. It does not save information from a prior connection.

I noticed two things which might be contributing to this issue.
1) The EDID for DP-0.1 is much shorter than the ones for either of the other two screens. Maybe not all the information is being passed through to the computer.
2) The external monitors are connected to ports which are using Intel and not Nvidia. CTRCs 1 2 3 4 use Intel and CTRCs 0 5 6 use Nvidia.

Your laptop screen is using Nvidia, but the external monitors are using an Intel port.

I can not tell from the Manual if all ports are connected to both GPUs. Do you have a setting in BIOS/UEFI which lets you select Hybrid/Switchable graphics or just Nvidia (discrete)?
