LMDE5 with btrfs and timeshift with grub-btrfs

On a LMDE5 system with btrfs and subvolumes @ and @home, I use timeshift to create snapshots to recover from a bad update or install that messes things up.

I include @home because a lot of DE applications install config files to the /home/$USER directory and will leave it in a mess after a restore that removes that application.

I like to also use grub-btrfs because it allows you to boot from a snapshot. This is handy when things get really messed up but grub still works.

I've read a lot of advice about creating new subvolumes for /var/log and /var/cache called @log and @cache. I do this on distros that us read-only snapshots with snapper, but since timeshift doesn't do read-only snapshots is there any reason to make the @log and @cache subvolumes??
