Linux Version of Windows Experience Index

Post by jtamark »

Is there a Linux version of the Windows Experience Index, from the Windows System Assessment Tool (WinSAT) ?

WinSAT looks over your system, and gives you a numerical score on your machine's performance, along with individual scores for different elements of the system, so you know where your weak links is.

Is there a Linux version?

Your answer made me laugh; two letters and a period.

Thank you, it's good to know, even if the answer is "no."

Windows: Your WEI score is 8.7, but only because you've spent thousands on a high end rig that you will probably only use for surfing and web games

Linux: Works, and isn't trying to get you to upgrade your hardware

This is the part that made me laugh

The Windows Experience Index is one example that highlights Microsoft's shortcomings in creating an operating system that efficiently runs on consumer systems available in the market, even those with Microsoft's own brand sticker affixed to their cases. In contrast, Linux doesn't encounter such issues, as it offers various distributions capable of running smoothly on even the most modest hardware available.

There are still numerous ways to perform synthetic benchmarks on Linux if desired, but the results are intended for individuals who genuinely comprehend what they are seeking, rather than being used as a mere marketing ploy to promote hardware upgrades and new licenses, or as a means to introduce intrusive privacy practices associated with newer models.

Do a simple web search.
Some of the top results that come up are sysbench, GeekBench, Phoronix Test Suite... There are a lot more.
